Writing Prompt: What’s a movie or book that inspired you to travel?

Food….

We all need it.

It is the one thing that will always bring people together…..

I was a strange child. While other kids were watching cartoons or whatever Disney show was popular, I was immersed in the world of food and travel.

The concept of idols was lost on me, but there were/are two people I admired. Huey P. Newton and Anthony Bourdain.

Slick talking, badass New Yorker. Growing up in New Jersey, Anthony instantly felt like home. A familiar soul.

I couldn’t wait to get home from school to lie back and watch “No Reservations” and later, “Parts Unknown”. Anthony had a way of connecting with people all over the world in a raw and honest way. This opened my eyes to places I never considered and cuisines I would travel across the world to try.

In high-school, I decided, “I will travel the world for food.” At the age of 33, I decided the time was now, but… that took a massive detour. lol But to this day, food still drives me to explore the world.
