Journal Prompt: What are your morning rituals? What does the first hour of your day look like?

By nature, I have always been a night owl. Over the past 4 years, I have begun to enjoy waking up early, just as the Sun starts to peek.

My days are ritualistic, as are most of my actions. A previous boss reminded me of my predictability. He approached me as I parked my Ariel Boom Lift and abruptly proclaimed…”Don’t ever commit a crime!”. I looked at him, perplexed. He laughed and told me he knew my whole routine because I do the same thing every day.

Here is my routine….

My alarm goes off promptly at 6:30/7:30 am, depending on the season. I sing a Good Morning song I learned from a German show about a possessed smart home, to my furry children, Ginger and Bartosz.

Next, we approach Operation: Walk Bartosz before the Sun melts my skin, but first feed Ginger so she can eat in peace while we walk. Upon return, I brew a cup of Espresso and hang outside with my outdoor cat, Sheba, and feed her breakfast. Now that it is spring, a greater variety of birds have arrived, so I enjoy chatting with them and listening to their songs of Spring. Chatty little fellows, but I learned a valuable lesson in my youth. If you want to piss a bird off, tell it to shut up. hahaha. That is when I first learned that animals really do understand, or maybe I am Dr. Dolittle….I digress….

Finally, I turn on whichever frequency sound I want to hear that day and begin my StrengthSide workout routine. In my older years (because your late 30’s be hitting different lol), I prioritize flexibility and function over aesthetic. StrengthSide provides both. Finally, we conclude with Breathwork, Meditation, and some journaling.

This ritual has helped me maintain a sense of peace and intentional awareness. The days when life gets a little demanding, and I miss my routine, are deeply felt; however, I do my best to make it a top priority.
