Trust Issues

Finding the light in Darkness

What does it mean to trust someone? Recently I embarked on a conversation with a family member. The topic of discussion was putting your trust in someone. My point of view from experience is as such… I have found that one should never put their trust in a person. It will do you and the person a great disservice. Instead, I have learned to honor people. This leads to better relationships. So what is the difference between trusting and honoring a person. To put your trust in a person, I have found to be a selfish act. To put your trust in someone means we expect, no, require them to put our needs first. A brief example goes like this. To friends decide to go into a business partnership. In this partnership, each friend has set responsibilities. Therefore both partners are needed for smooth operations. One partner runs into financial troubles. This requires the partner to back out of the agreement because they no longer have the funds. Because the other partner was relying on their partnership for the smooth operation of the business, it leaves them in a bind. This would make anyone upset because they trusted their partner to hold up their end of the deal. If instead, the partner honored their friend they would understand that a person has the right to change their mind at any given point because it is their life and they must do what is best for them. Everyone has their purpose and sometimes it may not align with yours. Everyone had their reason for what they do, whether good or bad. We can not be the judge because we have our paths. Trust is best reserved for self. We must trust in our abilities to do what is best for us. This will lead to better relationships with those around us. Honoring people has changed my perspective and helped me forgive many people. Most of my parents because who doesn’t have some sort of parental issues? What could change for you if you honor instead of trusting the people in your life?
